The World Rally Championship’s 2027 technical rules are close to being finalized, with the FIA approving refined bodywork regulations. These regulations were discussed at the World Motor Sport Council meeting in Macau last month. Changes to bodywork requirements, including sustainable materials and design flexibility, are intended to attract more manufacturers to the championship. The 2027 cars will have a cost cap of €345,000 and use Rally2 engines and componentry. The finalized regulations are expected to be confirmed by August, with concerns raised by current WRC teams about the tight timeframe. Hyundai and M-Sport have not yet committed to building cars for 2027, with chassis study and crash tests ongoing.
